A SUMMER OF INSPIRATION |A CHANCE TO SLOW DOWN, RECHARGE AND NOURISH YOUR CREATIVITY

The onset of the school holidays for some, together with our recent heatwave here in the UK, both come as a gentle reminder that these summer months are often associated with an opportunity or two to take a break and slow down. There’s no doubt that some time off can help us to rest and recharge, although also hidden within these quieter moments, whilst we rest with our thoughts, can often be some further opportunity.

You may have noticed from my recent Instagram post and stories that I’ve not long returned from a trip to the Cotswolds where I was lucky enough to spend a day or two enjoying the wonderful Daylesford estate and all that it has to offer.

From the beautiful organic and artisanal produce in the farm shop, through to the peace and tranquility of the Bamford spa, it really was a pure feast for the senses; a place full of inspiration, be it to connect with ourselves or our surroundings, celebrate nature, or simply live in season and in balance with our beautiful planet.

The quality of product, attention to detail and messaging is nothing short of exquisite and having the time to simply absorb all on offer was enough to leave me coming away energised and inspired.

My visit therefore confirmed to me that, just as nature might bask in the sunshine during summertime, we too can relish in the possibility it offers up and the space it can bring; taking advantage of these quieter moments to nourish and enrich our creativity.

For as the pace slows, it is often within these moments of calm where the magic lies. Whilst taking time away from our desks, phones and busy client commitments, we can allow ourselves the time to become engrossed in light and joyful inspiration; spending time in settings which realign us with our values and goals, losing ourselves within our favourite interiors or architectural magazine, or even just fully absorbing ourselves in nature.

In doing so I believe that we can really encourage our ideas to blossom. We all seek inspiration from different places, but whatever ignites your imagination, treat yourself to some time there.

So this summer, whether it’s in a cool spot in the shade with a morning coffee, or on a lazy hazy evening with a G&T, why not gift yourself a quiet moment or two with your favourite sources of visual inspiration. Take a day out to visit that place which you know fuels your creativity. Notice what thoughts it evokes and welcome in fresh ideas and energy. I, for one, will be doing more of exactly this, as well as looking ahead to Autumn with a renewed sense of vitality.

I’d love to know what comes up for you and, in the meantime, wishing you all the very best of inspiration fuelled summers.
